About the Event
This is the third edition of Urban Aquathlon 2018 – ‘The Amphibian Race’ which is scheduled on 16 Sep 2018, Sunday at Orchid Country Club in idyllic Yishun. The name, ‘aquathlon’ is a two-stage race comprising swimming followed by running. That said, Urban Aquathlon is a unique event as swim is not taken place in the open sea but at the Olympic-size 50 metres swimming pol in an orderly manner. This is an ideal entry level event for athletes aspiring to take up triathlon as a sport.
The SuperSprint Competitive Series
In this SuperSprint Series, there are four main categories - OPEN & MASTERS categories (400 metres swim & 3 KM run), JUNIOR category (100 metres swim & 1 KM run) and a newly introduced NOVICE category (100 metres swim & 1 KM run). The JUNIOR category will be sub-divided into various age groups. The NOVICE category is a good platform for those who plan to take up this sport for the first time.Though it is a sprint distance, the pace can be pulsating and exciting to watch as our athletes aim to achieve personal best (PB) and for some, podium finish.
The INCLUSIVE Race
This is a non-competitive category of 50 metres swim along with 500 metres run, designed to embrace the diversity of each person’s ability with aim to strengthen intergenerational participation and inclusivity within our community. Through this race, we hope to optimize every opportunity for multigenerational families or individuals with different abilities in the interrelating areas of health, personal empowerment, and social participation so that everyone can participate. It is not a timed-based category and participants will complete the race at their own pace. Everyone is a winner when he or she crosses the finish line
